]]>Overcome a financing hurdle. Guarantee cost. Reduce risk. Find efficiencies between planners, designers and builders. There are a lot of reasons to look to alternative delivery methods.
Alternative delivery can often surmount hurdles that the traditional plan-design-bid process can’t, to achieve more desirable outcomes. Each approach has its own advantages and drawbacks. It’s worth exploring all the options to find the methods that best fit an owner’s objectives, timelines and constraints.
Integrated project delivery, with its continuous collaboration between the designer, builder and owner, allows direct sharing of data between the design and construction teams, and can reduce waste and improve efficiency.
A design-build approach merges design and construction responsibility into one company with a single point of accountability and a single contract, allowing for phased construction and simplified management.
Public-private partnership provides a financing mechanism that transfers financial, technical and operational risk of the project to a private party while guaranteeing performance.
AECOM works with clients to understand the unique conditions of their project and identify the most appropriate approach.

]]>We are passionate about empowering our clients to realize value to asset users and stakeholders through asset management at all stages of the asset life-cycle.
We have supported numerous asset owners and managers across industry sectors world-wide to improve their approach to asset management aligned with the core principles of ISO 550001, the Global Forum for Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM)/Institute of Asset Management (IAM) framework, and other local AM guiding documents.
We link strategic, tactical and operational levels of asset management to deliver quantifiable benefits (including the optimized balance of performance, risk and cost over time). Our multi-disciplinary specialist teams, combined with asset management advisors, cover a range of engineering and technical aspects.
AECOM understands that many of our clients are under increasing pressure to gain additional value from their assets. We help our clients plan, design and construct many of their assets and is perfectly positioned to help clients build their asset management systems. Asset management is the systematic approach to the realization of value of an organization’s tangible and intangible assets over the entire life cycle.
We are key co-authors in the IPWEA International Infrastructure Management Manual (IIMM), and we are an Institute of Asset Management endorsed trainer and assessor. https://aecom.kineoportal.com/

]]>As cities continue to recover and reinvent themselves to provide equitable, safe, and sustainable places for their citizens to live, play, and thrive, we are supporting and advancing critical infrastructure programs in cities globally to deliver a better world.
Cities have never been more important, nor the competition among them more intense. Those positioned to excel in this time of incredible challenges will emerge stronger by pursuing broad, holistic infrastructure solutions that address inequities, unlock hidden value, attract people and investment, and overcome financial and operational challenges.
At AECOM, we offer both the depth of insight and breadth of expertise required to thrive in these conditions.
We believe no one discipline has all the answers to urban challenges. Our unique contribution to the urban agenda is our whole-systems approach to better prioritize projects, plan ahead, protect vulnerable assets, and provide sustainable growth.
Much has been said in recent years about making our cities smarter. Our aim is to go one step further and make them not just smart, but more resilient places that are responsive to the people who live in them and sensitive to the ecological environments in which they inhabit.
As a global company with a deeply rooted presence in many of the world’s major urban centers, we routinely connect the best ideas and insights — blurring the boundaries of both geography and profession, and engaging with public and private sectors, to help cities overcome their challenges and build brilliant futures. This work embraces a diversity of established and emerging project types — from citywide masterplans and climate change adaptation, to integrated design and operation of transport systems, to the development of innovative urban resilience strategies and programs. We work with cities large and small, mature and emerging, directly for city governments or with those who have a critical stake in the future development of their city to imagine and implement the urban environments and critical resilient infrastructure of tomorrow.
As one of the world’s most trusted infrastructure consulting firm, AECOM partners with clients to solve the world’s most complex challenges and build legacies for generations to come. We have harnessed our collective expertise and data to develop our Sustainable Legacies strategy to ensure that our work leaves a positive, lasting impact for communities and our planet.

]]>From buildings and civil construction to energy and industrial solutions, AECOM Construction Services is built to modernize, expand and deliver the most iconic and complex structures ever conceived.
With over 13,000 employees in 25 countries, Construction Services partners with visionary owners and developers around the globe. From urban centers to remote locations, mass transit terminals to water treatment plants, concert halls to power plants, stadiums to refineries, supertall skyscrapers to residential towers – we are a fully integrated infrastructure firm that can build anything.
The world’s infrastructure is not keeping pace with current demand. Solving this complex challenge requires an organization steeped in experience and primed for the future. With legacy projects that date back to the 1890s, our construction experts integrate the best practices we’ve honed over the last century into the technologies defining our industry today.
Through several strategic acquisitions over the last decade, we’ve best positioned ourselves to serve a diverse range of clients. Our building construction business was created in 2010 with the acquisition of Tishman Construction (AECOM Tishman) and bolstered in 2014 with the acquisition of Hunt Construction Group (AECOM Hunt). The full acquisition of URS Corporation in 2014 gave us a strong foothold in the power, oil and gas, and industrial sectors and our acquisition of Shimmick Construction in 2017 provided us with leading heavy civil construction capabilities.
Imagine the Western Hemisphere’s tallest building. Imagine grids that power entire cities. Imagine the largest private real estate development in history. Imagine aging infrastructure restored.
If you can imagine it, we can deliver it.

]]>In a world where environmental preservation and biodiversity are more important than ever, our team of experts is committed to designing and implementing innovative solutions to improve how fish transit through aquatic ecosystems.
The goal of AECOM’s fish passage service is to find ways around the obstacles that interfere with the natural migration of aquatic species, like dams and other obstacles acting as water infrastructure. Informed by groundbreaking technical expertise in hydraulic engineering, aquatic ecology, and numerical modelling, our designs account for the unique needs of each environment. These designs include creating fish passages, rivers, and improving natural habitats to promote biodiversity. By incorporating technology and sustainable practices, AECOM projects not only meet regulatory requirements but also positively impact the health of aquatic ecosystems.
On December 31, 2019, AECOM welcomed the expertise and employees of MILIEU Inc., in an effort to affiliate with the industry’s most knowledgeable resources. AECOM is thus able to continue the legacy of this Quebec-based company, whose achievements include the development of various climbing ramps designed specifically for eels. Technological development is also an area of focus, with a photoelectric counter tracking the number of migrations.
Since 2018, collaborations with the Indigenous communities and First Nations have also seen much success, building on shared strengths and expertise to restore the connectivity of aquatic habitats. Projects have focused on the free passage of fish in general while aiming to increase habitats in the upstream areas of watersheds for brook trout, Atlantic salmon, and American eel. These restoration projects have sought not only to set up eel migration passages but also to positively modify the watercourse beds in order to restore a water level that is compatible with anthropogenic structures (various kinds of culvert).
